International Dance Day 2013

My message to the world:

Hello World,

In my attempt to truly decipher my thoughts and feelings in expressing what this day means to me, I found a quote by Beth Jones that best describes my current predicament, or writer’s block if you wish.

"To dance is to reach for a word that doesn't exist,
To sing the heart-song of a thousand generations,
To feel the meaning of a moment in time."
- Beth Jones

To some it might just be another day that recognizes a particular art form. For me, it is a day celebrating one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind: the gift of movement.

Many a times we forget the power of a single movement. This day, “International Dance Day”, is more than just acknowledging the existence of dance in its many sub-genres. It is a day celebrating LIFE!

So on this day I urge all, young and old, to appreciate their every moment. From the moment you wake up to your little jog to work and zumba class in the evening, I hope you take the time to appreciate the value of your every moment. For indeed every movement you make, every step you take, every inhale and exhale, is a testament to life.

Happy International Dance Day to mankind. Celebrate Movement! Celebrate Life!

Sincerely,
Soultari Amin Farid
